The East Hill Lift takes visitors and residents of Hastings from the Old Town and the fishing fleet end of the beach up the steep face of the East Hill to the beginning of the Country Park. On the way up there are brilliant views of the pretty Old Town and at the top acres of coastal walks along cliffs and through ferny woods towards Fairlight and Rye.
A great card for those that love the funiculars of Hastings or love linocut art. It would also look good framed!
Hastings is fortunate to have two Victorian/Edwardian funiculars, the West Hill Lift which goes through a tunnel and takes you up to where the ruined Norman castle is, and the East Hill Lift, which takes you up above the Old Town and to the top of the seaside cliffs.
I worked on the Lifts for a time and this is the viewpoint of the person operating the lift at the top. You can see the famous net huts and harbour arm below. It was a job with the most amazing views.
You can also see the East Hill Lift on my linocut and card of Rock-a-Nore beach.
