Description
My large colour linocut of the front of the house at Great Dixter in East Sussex as a greetings card.
A great card for lovers of gardens and historic houses.
Great Dixter is an old house in the village of Northiam, East Sussex. It is most famous for its gardens, which were largely developed by gardening writer Christopher Lloyd in a flamboyant and lush English cottage garden style. The plants are absolutely packed in, and buzzing with insects. Great Dixter’s planting style has been quite influential to up-and-coming gardeners and garden designers.
Great Dixter was one of the pioneers of flower meadows – encouraging wild flowers back onto one of their lawns – a beautiful sight in the summer.
Great Dixter is also famed for its container plant displays, particularly of spring bulbs like daffodils and tulips.
I hope to feature the gardens in more detail in a future linocut.
