Hampton Court Palace, summer is a large colour linocut of the famous Tudor palace beside the Thames near London.

Hampton Court Palace, summer is a hand-pulled colour linocut in oil-based inks in a small edition of 50. The actual print is 38cm wide and 27cm high (roughly A3 Рso fairly large). It is printed on acid-free paper and signed by me, and sent with a backing board and white mount so that it can easily be framed in a standard A2 size frame.

Each print in the edition is inked up and pressed individually, resulting in some slight differences between each print – making each one a unique work of art.

Hampton Court Palace will forever be associated with King Henry VIII. It was originally built by Cardinal Wolsey, who gave his fabulous home to Henry in the hope of arresting his fall from royal favour. (Sadly for Wolsey, it didn’t work).

Under later monarchs, the Tudor style that we now so much admire was considered dreadfully old-fashioned. As a result, much of the palace was rebuilt in a baroque style by William III. However, he lost interest halfway through, and then died after a fall from his horse in the grounds.

As a result, Hampton Court is now an odd, but surprisingly cohesive, blend of Tudor and Baroque. Basically, one side is Tudor, and one side is late 17th century!

International orders will be sent without a mount, rolled with acid-free tissue paper in a tube.
