Description
Shakespeare’s Globe close-up is a quality greetings card featuring my original illustration of this charismatic open air theatre beside the River Thames in London. The card is 7″ by 5″ or 178mm high by 127mm wide portrait format.
Shakespeare’s Globe is a reconstruction of the Globe Theatre, the Elizabethan playhouse in London for which William Shakespeare wrote his plays. The original theatre was demolished in 1644. The new building opened in 1997 and was the dream of American actor and director Sam Wanamaker. Theatre-goers can either sit in the roofed galleries or stand in the open air near the stage. Standing is arguably more fun as you are freer to react to the actors – just as Londoners did in Shakespeare’s day.
If you would like a larger version on your wall, a similar signed art print of the Shakespeare’s Globe is available.
