Ten Tors challenge greetings card – the illustration is adapted from my illustrated poster of this annual event. The perfect card for anyone who has ever taken part, is planning to take part, or is involved with the organisation of this prestigious West Country event!

The Ten Tors challenge greetings card celebrates the annual Ten Tors – an annual event in May on Dartmoor. Since 1960, teenagers have competed against the elements to navigate their way across Dartmoor in Devon in teams of six, with back-up from the British Army. The event takes place over a weekend, so the teenagers also need to carry tents and camp out in the wilderness.

Ten Tors has become a rite-of-passage for generations of people from Devon and nearby counties of England, offering a sense of freedom, challenge and camaraderie that is more precious than ever in the 21st century.

So successful has the Ten Tors challenge become that it has had to be restricted in recent years to West Country youngsters only. Hopefully, other parts of the country will initiate their own tests of endurance and character-forming adventures for young people – as there is clearly a demand.
