Colour linocut of turnstones near a boat on Hastings beach in East Sussex, printed in oil-based and water-based inks on acid free paper.
The image is approximately 17 cm high by 28 cm wide (slightly smaller than A4) and signed beneath by me, the artist. Variable edition of only 10. Every linocut is hand printed and individual prints vary slightly from each other, so that you will own an individual work of art. These are not mass-produced at the printers but printed by me by burnishing the back with a spoon!
This one is a reduction print, using one block of lino which is gradually carved completely away, which is why there are only 10 of them.
Your work of art will come ready mounted in white to fit a standard-sized frame. Postage is included in the price.
Turnstones are lovely little birds that are frequently seen near or on the beach at Hastings and Bexhill, running about in small flocks, pecking the ground or the pebbles, looking for tasty goodies. I hadn’t seen them before I moved to Hastings, although they are apparently to be found all along the British and Irish coastline.
I also have some blank greetings cards taken from linocuts on the theme of the beach and the boats at Hastings, such as ‘Beach Walk‘.
