I worked at the Victoria Palace Theatre for many years and know the building well and have sketched it many times. I left before the musical Hamilton started, when the theatre was closed for a prolonged period for an extensive re-fit. I might be controversial and say that it is one of the few attractive buildings left in Victoria Street!

The Victoria Palace opened in 1911 and was designed by Frank Matcham, a very prolific theatre architect of the era. He designed a theatre with no pillars to hold up the dress and grand circle – resulting in excellent sight lines from most of the seats.
