Burrow Mump, Somerset, linocut of a West Country scene
Burrow Mump, Somerset is inspired by the striking conical hill of that name, which sits beside two rivers - the Tone and the Parrett - on the Somerset Levels between Bridgwater and Taunton. It may look like Glastonbury Tor but it is quieter, with just a few houses and a handy pub below the hill, plus major footpaths along the rivers.
The whole area is associated with King Alfred. Burrow Mump would have been an island in those days. The hill is entirely natural and the current ruined church on top of the hill was built in 1793.
Each print in the edition is inked up and pressed individually, resulting in some slight differences between each print - making each one a unique work of art.
I send smaller prints wrapped in cellophane in a reinforced envelope or parcel. Larger prints or international deliveries may be sent rolled in a tube with protective tissue.
