Fishing boat and gulls 7″x 5″ greetings card

My colour linocut of a pair of seagulls and a fishing boat on the beach at Hastings reproduced as a greetings card.

The card is 5″ by 7″ (or 127mm high by 178mm wide) and comes with a white envelope and cellophane sleeve. The card weight is 300gsm and is blank inside for your own message.

It would also look good framed!

The image is based on sketches I’ve made at the end of Hastings’ beach, closest to where I live. It’s called Rock-a-Nore. This is such an interesting spot. The narrow streets of the Old Town open up to the sea front, cliffs and shingle beach – with the Country Park curving away along the coast above the cliffs.

Most of the fishing fleet is “parked” here when not out at sea, together with their winches, tractors and tall net huts. You can buy fresh fish from them in the mornings. TIP: the smaller “shops” off the roadside on the beach are cheaper. The seagulls love to congregate here.

The RX on the boat means it’s registered at the Port of Rye, further along the coast, which is the local registration – so it’s a local boat.

You can find out more about this end of the beach and the fishing fleet from this page of Fishing News.

You can see another card featuring a linocut scene from Rock-a-Nore here.
